-
Bed may not fit in low ceiling rooms
-

-
Vertical Murphy beds are available in all sizes
Horizontal Murphy bed pros and cons

Horizontal Murphy bed
- Bed is orientated so one side is against a wall
- A little more difficult to add sheets
- Access is limited for two people sharing bed
- Headboard is not functional (see picture)
- Horizontal styles work well fit in low ceiling rooms
- Horizontals also fit well in very narrow rooms
- Horizontal beds take up more space across than vertical beds
- Storage cabinets can be added on top of bed as well as on the sides
- Some manufacturers do not make larger (queen) size horizontal beds
The choice between vertical or horizontal can be a difficult one. Consider carefully how you how the bed will be used and how many people will be using it.
Most people chose a vertical bed for its all around versatility. In some cases with room limitations a horizontal bed is the only choice that will fit.
